On January 18th, 1958, an earthly Angel was born in Paradise, California, and on December 23rd, 2017, God took that Angel to her eternal home in Paradise, Heaven.  Debra (Smith) Belyeu was brought into this world by James (Jim) and Barbara (Bo) Smith, who both preceded her in passing.
The Smith family moved to Roswell, NM, in the mid-1960s, and it’s there that Debra met and married her soulmate, Ted Belyeu on September 9th, 1975.  They were married for 42 years.  Surviving her are their two sons, Deacon Belyeu and mate Mylinda Carter, children Ebon & Ryker of Roswell; Vance and Valerie Belyeu, children Abigail, Vance (Deux), Alicia, Amaya & Joseph of El Paso, Texas.
Debra is also survived by her sister Melany Gray & husband Alton of Moore, Oklahoma; and her brother Mark Smith & wife Tracy of Ashland, Wisconsin.  Brothers-in-law include Dean Belyeu & wife Linda of Roswell; Larry Belyeu of Santa Fe, and sister-in-law Doris Lasiter & husband Jim of Dexter.
She had many nieces and nephews:  McKenzie Zimmer & husband Brian of Ozark, Missouri; Kevin Case & wife Nikki and their son Asher of Harrah, Oklahoma; C.J. Smith of Minnesota, MN; Josh Smith of Ft. Drum, New York; Tammy and Gaylan Young of Roswell; Dee Ann and Steve Nunez of Roswell, NM; Dustin and Brook Belyeu & wife of Santa Fe, NM; Kayla Belyeu of San Antonio, TX; Randy Lasiter of Roswell, NM; Matt Lasiter of Roswell, NM; Laurie Lasiter of Roswell, NM.
Debra graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and spent an entire career helping others as a Registered Nurse.  Her career was spent as an Emergency Room Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital (9 years), TMC Bus Manufacturing Facility (7 years), Levi Straus (10 years), and retired with the NM Department of Health as the Director of Nursing Services after 19 years of service.
Debra was a devout Christian woman and lived by God’s Word.  She shared the love of Jesus with all those she encountered.  She loved ‘her boys’ (Ted, Deacon, & Vance) and was quick to share her gratitude and appreciation for all three and the individual joys they each brought to her life.  She loved planting and digging in the dirt, and feeling the wind while riding the motorcycle with Ted.  Debra was very witty and fun to be around; she loved making people smile and laugh, and would go ‘above and beyond’ for those around her.  As was her character, she cared for both of her parents during their aging years to ensure their health and safety needs were met.  Debra was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the UNM Cancer Center, friends Don & Dot Bassard, and all friends and family who provided love and care over the recent years. Please celebrate in Debra’s life by visiting www.andersonbethany.com to offer a memory or expression of sympathy for her family.  Services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, December 28th, 2017, at Church on the Move, 901 W Brasher Rd, Roswell, NM 88203; lunch reception to follow.
Debra’s family lovingly wrote this tribute in her honor.

Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
