Behind Morro and the barrel, a makeshift home that caught fire Monday evening, remains standing despite scorch marks covering the structure.

According to the Roswell Fire Department’s public information officer, Todd Wildermuth, the fire included pallets, plywood, and other rubbish.

“RFD personnel say it looked like it maybe had been a makeshift shelter at some time,” Wildermuth said. “RFD responded with an engine and extinguished it.”

Among the debris within the area, numerous empty cigarette packages were also scattered about.

The city of Roswell drafted a notice for those inhabiting the Berrendo Riverbed area to vacate the area by Nov. 17, 2017.
