In loving memory of Douglas Harry Anderson, who was born June 20, 1938, in Braham, MN, and died on Sunday, December 31, 2017. Services will be held at a later date. Celebrate Douglas’ life by visiting www.andersonbethany.com to offer a memory or expression of sympathy for his family.
Doug spent his life riding broncs, testing cattle, serving his country in the Navy and practicing veterinary medicine. In the Navy, he served as a photographer and was stationed on the aircraft carrier, Yorktown, and later at FICPAC on Ford Island, in Hawaii. After being discharged from the Navy, Doug started riding broncs for a living until he got married in 1962. He attended the University of Minnesota from 1962 – 1968, where Doug received his doctorate in veterinary medicine (DVM.) He had a private practice for over twenty years in Woodland Park, CO, where he stitched up, mended and took care of many different species of animals; although, his love and passion was, of course, horses. In 1984, when Doug started his career with USDA, he began working with cattle, until he retired in 2001.
Doug is survived by his wife, Kathryn Sundseth Anderson; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Patrick Hooper; three grandkids: Bethany, Aaron, Liam; and two great-grandkids: Seth and Naethan.
Douglas’ family lovingly wrote this tribute in his honor.
