Why do income taxes have to be so complicated?
All businesses, for-profit or nonprofit, could pay a simple gross receipts tax. This would be a small amount since it would be on each transaction with no exemptions other than a W-2 wage earner and the bank deposits the W-2 wage earners.
This is also known as a flat tax. A business would pay, say 1 percent, of their total receipts each month to the federal government if they made a profit or lost money. I think that 1 percent would be more than enough when you consider that there will be no exemptions.
I think that this might be too simple for the average lawmaker and I would welcome some pros and cons.
