Jason Thomas Tutor went to be with our Lord on January 3, 2018. Jason was born May 17, 1972 in Roswell, NM to Thomas Tutor and Diana Williams.
Jason is survived by his wife, Becki Lucas Tutor of Chesapeake, VA, their son, Quinn, step-children, Zachary, Gabriella, Luke, and RaeAnn. Jason was a beloved husband, father, son and brother.
Jason had many hobbies including listening to music, shooting, reading, bugs, exploring and most of all being a father to Quinn. He loved playing guitar with his band, Disfunktion, with Jeff Weathers, Rollah Aston, Sattie Chavez and Mike Green.
He started his career of service to others with Chaves County Youth Services where he worked with troubled youth. At the same time, he tutored at Eastern NM University-Roswell and taught GED classes for adults. His brother, Jeffrey, was in Law Enforcement and after riding along with his brother, Jason was hooked. He became a Police Officer with the City of Roswell in 1997 and was an excellent Officer. In 2001, he went on to work for the Chaves County Sheriffs Department where he served as a Patrolman and then as a Detective. He spent much of his time in that capacity working cases involving crimes against children.
In August, 2013, he met Becki Lucas and moved to Virginia to be with her. He knew immediately that Becki was the love of his life, and they had little Quinn who quickly became the center of their world. He was also devoted to Becki’s children and found happiness with his new family.
He is also survived by his father, Thomas Tutor and Alfred Velasquez, his mother Diana Williams and husband Dale, sister Johanna Avera and husband Robert, and brother Jeffrey and wife Rachel. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members who will miss his quick wit and loving disposition.
Memorial services will be scheduled in Chesapeake, VA and in Roswell, to be announced at a later time.
Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.lagronefuneralchapels.com.
