Historic filing for city

Roswell City Councilor Natasha Mackey made history Tuesday, officially becoming the first African-American candidate for mayor in Roswell’s history. Also pictured is City Clerk Sharon Coll. Others that filed for the mayoral contest Tuesday were Mayor Dennis Kintigh, former Mayor Del Jurney and former Marine Sergio Gonzalez, all of whom have announced their candidacies in recent months. In March 2014, Mackey became the first African-American elected to the Roswell City Council. If she prevails in the mayoral contest, she would also be the first female mayor in the city’s 127-year history. Early voting begins Feb. 14. (Submitted Photo)
