Elections for two members of the board of directors of the Pecos Valley Artesian Conservancy District will occur today.

District One and District Four seats are up for six-year terms, and registered voters living in those district boundaries are eligible to participate in the elections from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

District One of the conservancy district runs from south of U.S. 380, which is Second Street in Roswell, to north of the city, and voters from that district can vote at the Roswell Fire Station #3 at 2800 N. Wilshire Ave.

District Four runs from south of Hagerman to the north end of Artesia. The polling location for that district is the Cottonwood Fire Station, 89 Firehouse Road in Artesia.

The nominees for the volunteer positions are current board members Greg Alpers for District One and Dwight Menefee for District Four, said Aron Balock, PVACD superintendent.

Board members’ duties are to oversee operations of the district in its mission to conserve the waters of the Pecos Valley, Balock said.

Balock added that the results of the elections are scheduled to be determined at a Tuesday board meeting.
