MainStreet vendors will donate proceeds to charities

MainStreet Roswell announces this First Friday DownTown Market’s theme is “MainStreet Has a Heart!” Participating businesses on Main Street will be raising funds and collecting items/donations for the charity or non-profit organization of their choice.

For the second year, MainStreet Roswell invites everyone to join in as donations and awareness are raised for some of Roswell’s amazing charitable organizations.

Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. there will be musicians at Reischman Park, 310 N Main St., providing wonderful music. For food, Kik’s Food Truck will be there as well, or stop in at Peppers Grill & Bar, Big D’s Downtown Dive, El Toro Bravo, Billy Ray’s, Third Street Station BBQ, Papa Johns or Martins Capitol Café — lots of choices for a delicious meal all within walking distance.

Several animals will be visiting our downtown on First Friday for a photo opportunity or just enjoy that warm fuzzy feeling by meeting them. Runyan Ranch Rescue Zoo be present at Shoes to Be Happy/The T-Shirt Factory with a Valentine’s Day Photo Booth with a mystery exotic animal. The Chaves County CASA therapy dogs will be at Once Again Consignment to meet and greet and pose for photos. The Roswell Humane Society will be at Tascosa and “From Forgotten to Forever” will be at Apple Blossom.

Join MainStreet merchants for February First Friday and feel the loving heartbeat of our downtown. Here are some of the special ways MainStreet businesses are showing their bif hearts.

• Ancients of Days will be collecting donations for Roswell Refuge Shelter. They also have 50 percent off select cabochons and cutting rock (normally $5 per pound) is only $2 per pound.

• Alien Zone will be collecting toys, children’s books, or donations for Lindsey Callaway Memorial Toy Drive for Covenant Children’s Hospital. Local residents who provide proof of residency can get into Area 51 for free.

• Apple Blossom will be taking donations to support “From Forgotten to Forever” animal rescue. Also, they will offer specials on their “A-dog-able” dog shaped flower arrangements, and if you advance order your Valentine’s Day flowers on First Friday and the delivery fee will be waived.

• Barringer’s will be collecting donations for Harvest Ministries, also non-perishable food, blankets, coats, etc. While you are there, enter to win a two-night stay in a cabin in Ruidoso, a pair of diamond earrings, or a box from the sweet shop and their signature red chile chocolates by placing your Valentine’s Day order by Feb. 7th. They are also offering 10% off of their food trays (meat & cheese, vegetable, fruit…) for your super-bowl parties!

• Books Again is donating 100 percent of all sales to the Roswell Public Library. The store also will also have a $5 bag sale. A bag is provided to fill with books, CDs, DVDs, etc, which only costs $5 for the bag full of items.

• Bows & Britches will have a 25 percent off storewide sale with a portion of sales going to a local Girls Scout group. Donations for the Girls Scouts will also be accepted and the Girls Scouts will be at the store selling cookies.

• Bullocks Jewelry will give a percentage of sales First Friday to The Assurance Home, a residence for at-risk children.

• Casa Bella Boutique has all t-shirts for $25, all short boots $25, and also get 25 percent off one item. They will be collecting gently used clothing items for The Starting Line. Donate a clothing item for these girls and get an additional 25 percent off one item, bringing the discount to 50 percent off one item.

• Dara’s Upholstery will be taking donations for the Humane Society, which is always in need of pet food, kitty litter, toys, and operating funds.

• Finishing Touches will be donating to the Roswell Public Library Children’s Program.

• Once Again Consignment is giving 100 percent after tax of heart tagged items sold Feb. 2-14 to be divided equally between Chaves County CASA program and the Roswell Homeless Coalition. Come meet the CASA dogs. There will also be a deep discount on coats and heavy jackets, plus their ever-popular $1 clearance rack!

• Stardust Antiques, Arts, & Artifacts will be taking donations for our local Veterans Services. Monetary donations and items like new socks, blankets, non-perishable food will be accepted.

• Shoes to Be Happy/T-Shirt Factory will have Runyan Ranch Rescue Zoo at its store with a Valentine’s Day Photo Booth where you can take a selfie with a mystery guest exotic animal. They will also be taking donations for the Runyan Ranch Rescue Zoo. They have select styles of Sanuks, yoga mats and shoes, at 40 percent off.

• Stellar Coffee will be taking donations for the Roswell Homeless Coalition. Be sure to try Stellar’s extra chocolatey Valentine’s Day drink.

• Tascosa invites customers to donate or add pet items to their gift basket of goodies for the Roswell Humane Society, who will be at their store.

• The Gallery/Main Street Arts will be accepting donations for the Roswell Fine Arts League.

All donations raised during February will be presented to representatives from these organizations by our downtown businesses at Reischman Park on Feb. 16 at 2 p.m.
