Mark Edward Holland passed away on Tuesday, January 30,2018 at his home in Mart, TX surrounded by family, at the age of 41. Visitation was Saturday, February 3,2018 at the Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services were Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.
Mark was born on November 20, 1976 in Roswell, New Mexico to Edward “Lynn” Holland and Glenda Elaine Esslinger Holland. Mark had started his own business and was owner and operator of Holland Security Services, LLC. He took pride in his company and worked hard to give the best in anything he did. For a short time, he enjoyed working part time at Home Depot where he made new friends and felt like part of the Home Depot family. He was a proud member of the BNI Go Pro Brazos Network. He considered all his fellow BNI members as part of his immediate family and never hesitated when one called and needed help or advise. Mark loved life, his family and people. He was the true definition of a gentleman with a loving heart and caring person. He never met a stranger that he wouldn’t have given the shirt off of his back to or the last dollar he had if that person needed it. He always treated everyone with respect and kindness thinking of other people before himself. Anyone who knew Mark, know that he had the need for speed and adventure. He loved his Crotch Rocket motorcycle and his “Shelby” Cobra Mustang car. In his younger years, he loved to scuba dive and his life long dream was to swim with sharks. As a teenager, he enjoyed hanging out with his school friends and in adult life had many adventurous stories to tell about those good ole days. Many of those school friends remained his friends for life and were there for him until the end.
Mark was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Odus and Edith Holland and his aunt, Sammie Esslinger.
He is survived by his parents, Lynn and Glenda Holland of Mart, TX; two sisters, Michelle LeVasseur and husband Dan of Watertown, SD and Mary Collins and husband Brian of Waco, TX; half brother, Jimmy Spangler of Rocky Mount, VA; grandparents, Kenneth and Mary “Polly” Esslinger of Roswell, NM; two uncles, Keith Esslinger of Roswell, NM and Glenn Esslinger and wife Sheila of Roswell, NM; neices and nephews, Alexzander and Sarah Collins of Waco, TX and Dexter LeVasseur of Watertown, SD; cousins, Hollie Gallegos and husband Paul, Kennon Esslinger and Kenneth Taylor Esslinger all of Roswell, NM; childhood friends, Tony and Tiffany Minshew, Lisa Marie Biglin, Bart Johnson, and Brian Cramer all of TX; and a host of many other family and friends.
We have all been truly blessed to have had Mark in our lives even if it was but for a brief time. He was a wonderful son, protective brother, loving grandson, caring uncle and cousin who loved his family and was always there for them. Mark was a very strong willed man and a fighter right up to the end. He will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate to have known him through his brief travel of time in our lives. We Love You.
