Paul Edward Johnson was born February 17, 1933, the son of Grant and Helene Johnson in Morris, Illinois. He was baptized on March 26, 1933, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris, IL, and confirmed June 1947, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Aurora, IL.
Paul graduated from both Carthage College, Carthage, IL, in 1955, and Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN, in 1959. He was ordained as a Lutheran pastor on June 7, 1959. He subsequently served as a pastor at Lutheran churches in Southern and Central California, Las Vegas, NV, and as an interim pastor at St Mark’s Lutheran Church in Roswell, NM.
Paul was married to Judith Lee Meyer Johnson on June 23, 1956. He spent his life serving others and sharing the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. On Sunday, February 11, 2018, Paul was transferred to the Church Triumphant at the age of 84 years.
Those left to eternally treasure and cherish his memory are Judy, his loving wife of sixty-one years; brother, Richard; three children: Dorothy Reinhard of Glendale, AZ, Timothy of Las Vegas, NV, Russell of Monument, CO; as well as nine grandchildren: Amanda Johnson of Lake Havasu, AZ, Rebecca Johnson of Barstow, CA, Lindsay Stewart of Los Alamitos, CA, Justin Reinhard of Kansas City, MO, Matthew Reinhard of Aurora, CO, Kathryn, Megan, Brendan, Lauren Johnson of Monument, CO; and ten great-grandchildren.
Preceding Paul in death were his brother, Jerry; sister, Mary Louise; brother, Grant; and his oldest son, Steven.
A “Celebration of Life—A gift from God” service officiated by Pastor Larry Sydow will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018, 11:00 AM, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 2911 N. Main Street in Roswell, NM.
