He founded the USGBC (Green Counsel) in Galveston, Texas, wrote exams for continuing education and his innovative designing eye brought about unprecedented advancements in the polyurethane foam and coating industry. There were many things he accomplished in his life, he: drove a train, drove a semi-truck, flew a private airplane, flew giant kites, enjoyed woodworking from furniture to dominoes, and was an honest master salesman who believed in his products. He created and invented many things but didn’t believe in patents. He loved music and country dancing with his wife, had a huge heart for dogs and cats, especially Brother, Sister and Cat-Cat.
He is survived by his wife, LaRue, married August 13, 1971 for 46 years and 5 months. Mike passed away in his home after a he fought cancer like a warrior – the only battle he ever lost, and he will be truly missed. His family and friends have chosen to honor his love for dogs and cats by donating to reputable, no-kill, rescue shelters in his name.
