Secundino “Dino” R. Rubio, 82, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018, after a long battle with renal cell carcinoma, surrounded by his family at his home in Guthrie. Dino was born on July 20, 1935 in Presidio, Texas to Federico and Guadalupe Garcia Rubio.
He previously resided in Roswell, New Mexico, Odessa, Texas, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He married his sweetheart, Carol Ann Hix Rubio on December 10, 1976. They made their home in Guthrie for the last forty years. He was a long haul trucker for over thirty years. He then began his career as the “Burrito and Tamale Man”, bringing traditional authentic Mexican food to Guthrie. He enjoyed spending time with family, supporting his grandchildren’s activities, dancing with his sweetheart, gardening, fishing, building and flying model airplanes, watching baseball, watching Guthrie Bluejay and Sooner football, watching Westerns, coaching softball, and caring for his animals and his beloved dog, Cody.  He was a vivid storyteller.
Dino was preceded in death by his parents, Federico and Guadalupe Rubio and siblings, Ignacio Rubio, Leonor Baca, and Manuela Ramirez, all of Roswell.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann; daughter, Virginia Jaramillo and husband, Faustino of El Paso, Texas; son, Fermin Rubio and wife, Peggy of Las Cruces, New Mexico; son, James Dino Rubio of Roswell, New Mexico; daughter, Kim “Kimmie” Eaton and husband, Curtis of Guthrie; daughter, Kelli “Stuff” Anai and husband, James of Guthrie; and daughter, Dena Wooden and husband, Jeff of Guthrie. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Corey Eaton, Jamie “Jamie Girl” Poplin, Ashley “Movie Star” Wilkinson, Nicholas Copass, Jari Rubio, Jillian Rubio, Camille Rubio, and Avery “Beauty Queen” Wooden.  Also surviving Dino is his beloved dog, Cody Rubio.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Noble Avenue Baptist Church, 1219 West Noble Avenue, Guthrie, Oklahoma with Scott Keneda officiating.  Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Pallbearers are Jeff Wooden, Curtis Eaton, James Anai, Nicholas Copass, Dustin Wilkinson, Billy Poplin, Jr., and Corey Eaton.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 12:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.
