Helen Gay “Tootsie” Green Hirst

Helen Gay “Tootsie” Green Hirst born January 17, 1944 and left this earth on February 24, 2018.
She was born to Helen Parker Green and Harold Green in Artesia, NM and was preceded in death by her father Harold Green and her twin brothers Eddy and Teddy Green.
Gay grew up in Artesia, NM and in Paris TX on her families’ farms and attended Artesia High School and Radford All-Girls School in El Paso TX. She later moved to NM and married Ken Hirst. They had one daughter, Lisa and shared a life together for 44 years.
Gay had a passion for horses, the racing industry and was very involved in the livestock and 4-H community, always volunteering when needed.
She is survived by her loving family, her husband, Ken Hirst, mother Helen Tidwell, daughter Lisa G. Lee of Texarkana, Ark, grandson Casey Lee, granddaughter Jessica Lee Pearson and her husband Zachary Pearson and two great grandchildren, Khloe and Zackary (arriving in May 2018)
A celebration of life will be held on March 1, 2018 at 10 am at Ballard Funeral Home, Roswell, NM. Immediately following the service, please come share your memories and fellowship with the family at the “BIG HOUSE”.
