Thanks for interim superintendent’s support

On behalf of the RHS Charlie’s Angels Dance Team, I want to take this opportunity to express our thanks to Interim Superintendent, Susan Sanchez and our 2017-2018 school board members for their support of our high school dance program.

Recently, Mrs. Sanchez and school board members welcomed input from myself, my team and many parents who expressed desire for some changes to our school districts travel policy, which at the time would not allow any athletic team to travel beyond 300 miles outside of New Mexico. As written, the policy prevented our team from returning to Florida to defend our national title from 2016, as an “exception” to the policy was not granted by past school board leadership. I am proud to say that because of our new interim Superintendent and several new board members we were able to come together and have our voices heard. We were allowed the opportunity to advocate for changes to this policy and felt that we were wholeheartedly listened to by each of our current school board members and Mrs. Sanchez. Through this collaboration I am happy to say that some policy changes were approved and implemented, thus allowing our team to return to compete at Nationals in Orlando, Florida later this week. The profound experiences these young ladies will gain by competing at a national level competition will stay with them for a lifetime. Giving them this opportunity will instill in them that there is nothing they can’t achieve throughout their life…even beyond the Art of Dance. We are so honored and have the utmost respect for Mrs. Sanchez and school board members, who work tirelessly to improve the educational and athletic systems for Roswell schools. I want to personally give my heartfelt thanks to each of you for listening to your constituents and always striving to do what is right for the students of the Roswell Independent School District. We appreciate your continual support, and look forward to representing Roswell Schools with pride as we compete on the National Stage.
