Daniel Madrid, 60 passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2018.
Daniel was born on July 29th, 1957, in Marfa Texas to Manuel Madrid and Gloria B. Madrid. Daniel grew up in Hagerman, NM and had lived in Ft. Stanton for a period and has been a resident with Tobsosa Developmental Services in Roswell, NM since 1994.
Daniel was an amazing, loving, caring person, he was admired and loved by all who knew him. Daniel was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and attended church regularly. Daniel was a businessman, he owned his own business “Daniel’s Mobile Newsstand” since 2006. Daniel was very proud that he owned his own business and was a strong salesperson. He has his own attire that marketed his business. There was one story where he a sold a newspaper to his mom and Daniel would not give her the newspaper until she paid for it. Daniel sold newspapers, candies, and other goodies around many businesses in Roswell. Daniel was a motorcycle enthusiast. In 2016, the Marine’s Motorcycle Club made him an honorary member and Daniel received a Marine’s Motorcycle vest with his road name “SNACKMAN”, Daniel was excited to receive this honor, he was even able to snap a few pictures on a couple of motorcycles. Daniel enjoyed going skiing in Ruidoso and was a Dallas Cowboy fan. He loved to watch novellas and listen to Spanish music. Daniel was very sociable, a good dresser, and loved to be around people. He loved to volunteer on his downtime, he was an animal over and enjoyed going to Reins for Life and getting to ride horses. Daniel enjoyed his job very much and loved to active in an assortment of activities held at Tobosa or in the community such as participating in the Walk for Hope and the Buddy Walk in Roswell. To quote a staff member of Tobosa, “Daniel was an extraordinary gentleman who brought joy to the Tobosa family and all the people who came to know him” Daniel did truly lead an amazing and fulfilling life.
Daniel is survived by his brother Reinaldo Madrid and wife Lydia and several nieces and nephews.
Daniel is preceded in death by his mother and father, Gloria and Manuel Madrid, sisters, Amelia Medrano and Maria Lucero, and brother JoeRay Madrid.
Pall bearers will be Debbie Duron, Sammy Sosa, Larry Medina, Nicholas Torres, Jessica Vela, Chidi Ihenetu. Honorary Pallbearers will be Daniel’s housemates Jackie and Martin and all his loving friends at Tobosa.
The Madrid family would like to thank all the Tobosa family for caring for Daniel throughout his years at Tobosa, including Debbie Duron, Daniel’s support staff, Sammy, Jessica, Paul, Maria, and all the Tobosa staff that were involved in Daniel’s life and making meaningful and thank you to J&J Homecare Case Management of Roswell.
Visitation will be held at Ballard Funeral Home on Thursday March 15, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM with a Rosary to be recited in the Ballard Chapel at 7:00 PM. Mass of the resurrection will be held at St. Peters on Friday March 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at South Park Cemetery.
