Disc golf champion Kolby Sanchez of Roswell looks to where his disc will land as he and other competitors in the intermediate division participate Saturday morning in the ACO VII Tournament at Enchanted Lands Park on North Sycamore Avenue. Sanchez won the 2017 world championship for juniors under 10. Watching Sanchez’s throw are his mother, Jennifer Sanchez, and other tourney players. From left, they are Marshall Hayes of Hobbs, Dustin Hohner of Albuquerque, Tyler Criswell of Hobbs and Tony Aldaz of Portales. About 96 competitors, including 10 professionals, from New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, Colorado and Canada are playing in the Professional Disc Golf Association event, sponsored by the New Mexico Gas Co. and Prodigy Disc. “This is the seventh time we have run this tournament, and it grows every year,” said Tournament Director Sam Smith. The two-day, three-round tournament continues at 9 a.m. this morning and is expected to conclude by early afternoon. (Lisa Dunlap Photo)
