Authorities have identified the murder victim from a shooting northwest of Hagerman on Sunday as 46-year-old Luciano De Anda Sifuentes.

According to an update from Chaves County Sheriff Britt Snyder on Monday, the identification came after the Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a Roswell man who believed the murder victim could be his brother.

“After (a) follow-up investigation, we are now able to confirm the identification of our victim,” Snyder said. “We believe Mr. Sifuentes has been living and working here for several years and his brother reports he has an adult child and a wife who’s still living in Mexico.”

Snyder said Sifuentes was positively identified through the means of the Office of the Medical Investigator and a Mexican identification card.

The sheriff also said the man accused of Sifuentes’ murder, Jose L. Dominguez, was assigned a $500,000 bond at his arraignment in Chaves County District Court.
