Tom Daily Smith, age 88 died on Thursday March 1, 2018 surrounded by many family members and friends. He was born in Shallower, Texas February 5, 1930 to parents, Tom and Lovie Smith. He was the oldest of four children and was the last surviving sibling. Tom was married to Helen Louise (Bryan) Smith for 68 years and preceded him in death January 2, 2018. He was the father of four girls, Judy Sneed (Roswell, NM), Bonnie Beevers and husband Jim (Clovis NM), Sandy Gilmore (Roswell, NM) and Sharon Gilmore (Roswell NM). He was the grandfather of 10, great grandfather of 22 and a great- great- grandfather of 5. He loved spending time with all the grandchildren.
Tom worked and retired from Public Service Company as a lineman after 30 years of service.
Tom was an avid hunter and prided himself in keeping meat in freezer for his family. Later in life he caught the bug of hunting coyotes. He treasured his hunting buddies that shared those hunting trips with him. He was a good neighbor.
A memorial service will be held at his home in Roswell NM, at 1410 Mossman Drive, Roswell NM on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 1 pm. At his request, his cremated remains will be scattered under a certain tree, in the hills near his Silver City home.
