Pet food distributed to those in need

Volunteers Gary Smith, left, Debbie Smith (no relation) and Dan Whitfield busily bag pet food Wednesday during the distribution for the Four Paws Pet Pantry at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 505 N. Pennsylvania Ave. The distribution began at 4 p.m. and by 5 p.m. 173 one-gallon bags of dog food and 112 bags of cat food were given out to community members who needed to feed their pets. The ministry needs volunteers to help bag food beginning at 2 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. Also needed are donations of cat and dog food. Distributions are from 4 to 6 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. There are no income requirements to receive a donation. For more information, call Enid Smith at 575-517-0174. (Timothy P.
