City of Roswell hosted three public hearings to gain insights on which project to choose to apply for the Community Development Building Grant.

The first meeting was Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club and Wednesday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Roswell Public Library.

Hubert Quintana and Dora Batista represented Southeastern Economic Development District Council of Governments at the hearings. Batista said a minimum of two public hearings is required for the applicants.

Approximately 24 community members attended the three sessions with the most popular session occurring at 10 a.m.

Batista said the City of Roswell is at 47% low to moderate income and the beneficiaries have to be at 51% or higher, which a survey in a specific area could show.

Community members requested that Boys and Girls Club and sidewalk improvements on Richardson, Walnut, and Tilden, or in the south historic district be considered by the city.

“I assist them with doing the hearing,” Batista said. “But the city will ultimately be doing the application.”
