Jesus Rodriguez Becerra, 90, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018. A Viewing will be Thursday, March 29, 2018, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00 PM, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. Friday, March 30, 2018, a Memorial Service will also be at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM, followed by interment at South Park Cemetery. Officiating the Service will be Pastor Rosario Paniagua and Pastor Adrian Rodriguez. Jesus was born September 5, 1927 in Pilares, Tx, to Antonio and Ester Becerra. He married the love of his life, Mary Gonzalez, on June 21, 1986 in Roswell, NM. He lived in Artesia, NM, for 42 years, working on a farm and delivering alfalfa. Soon after, he became the owner of a gas station and moved back to Roswell in 1986. He received Christ on February 6, 1999, at the church, Dios Vivo Cristo Viene in Carlsbad, NM, like Acts 2:38 says . . . “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of your sins . . . He also played the guitar in Dexter for prayer meetings. Later, he played the bass guitar for the Christian Music Ministry “Rejoice”. For 10 years, Jesus enjoyed going to the prison ministries with Johnny Gonzales. He attended church in Loving, NM, at Alfa & Omega with Pastor Benjamin Vasquez, until his illness 2 years ago. He then started going to Comunidad Christiana Apostolica de JesuCristo, playing his bass guitar there for a few months. He was always willing to attend any out of town church activities. Jesus was a good husband and father for his 3 stepsons in Roswell.
Those left to cherish and honor Jesus are his wife, Mary Becerra; stepsons: Robert and wife Elaine, David and wife Maria, Rick Aviña, grandsons David Aviña Jr., Issac Aviña, granddaughter Valeria Aviña & great-granddaughters Arya & Ariella Aviña; several nephews and nieces from Hagerman, Artesia, El Paso and Marfa, TX; and sister-in-law, Luz Becerra from Marfa, TX.
Preceding Jesus in death were his father, Antonio Becerra, and his mother, Ester Rodriguez; brothers: Eduardo, Candelario, Jose Pilar, Ramon and Ignacio Becerra; sister: Paula Becerra de Pacheco.
Chosen to serve as pallbearers are James Gonzalez, Santiago Padilla, Roman Vigil, Marcos Martinez, Baltazar Duran, and Jeff Gonzalez.
