Pearl “Cookie” Soto

Pearl “Cookie” Soto, 63, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018, in Roswell, New Mexico. A Rosary and Memorial Service will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, April 6, 2018, 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. On April 12, 1954, Pearl was born to Walter S. Sutherland and Norberta (Novie) Sutherland in Roswell, New Mexico. She was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. Pearl’s grandchildren, nephews and nieces meant the world to her. She loved grocery shopping, planning party’s and was also a casino and bingo fanatic. Pearl was a friend to everyone and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Those left to eternally treasure and cherish Pearl’s memory are her son, W. Ivan Sutherland and wife, Bertha Sutherland; grandchildren: Carlos Ivan Sutherland, Mathew Ray Sutherland, Brianna Carolina Sutherland; brothers: Walter Scott Sutherland, Daniel (Dario) Sutherland, sister, Sheila Vargas; nieces and nephews: Mike Vargas Jr, Steven Vargas, Sheila Woods, David Sutherland, Marcelino Peralta, Sam Peralta, Daniel Sutherland, Miracle Novie Sutherland, John Paul Sutherland, Vanessa Armendariz, Richard Gibson, Ashley Gibson, Alexa Morales; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and a special great-niece, Angelica Adelina Bugarin.
Preceding Pearl in death were her parents: Walter S. Sutherland and Norberta (Novie) Sutherland; siblings: Adelina Sutherland, John Sutherland; sister-in-law, Tammy Sutherland; brother-in-law, Big Mike Vargas; and nephew, Lucas Peralta.
A Reception will be held after Interment at Juan Montoya building, behind St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 506 S. Lincoln, Roswell, NM.
