William Howard Garrett, known to family as “Ted” and to friends as “Bill”, passed away suddenly in his home in Little Elm, Texas, at the age of 74.
A native of Roswell, New Mexico, Ted was a 1962 graduate of Roswell High School, and attended the University of Texas of Arlington, where he graduated with High Honors in 1971 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. As a CPA, he had a long career working for Price Waterhouse in Houston, and then as CFO, Vice President, etc., for various corporations. Before retiring, his most recent employment was with Joseph Brooks and Associates, P.C. As a financial and business consultant.
Ted was so proud to have been a Roswell Native especially a member of the Roswell Lions Hondo Little League World Championship team of 1956. He looked back fondly upon his coaches, teammates, and the events of that summer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin V. Garrett and Juanita D. Sims Garrett, and by his oldest sister, Dorthy Garrett Stumberg. He is survived by 3 brothers, Durward Garrett, Tom Murrell, and C.H. “Buzz” Murrell; and 3 sisters, Barbara Garrett Morris, Pat Garrett Parsons, and Sally Garrett Shackelford. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Dee Ann Garrett Florence, Christy Garrett, Kristi Krebbs, and Jason Burnette, and 8 grandchildren.
Ted was respected, loved, and admired by his large and loving family, friends, and coworkers. In accordance with his wishes and in lieu of formal services, a remembrance and celebration of his life was held on April 14th at his home in Little Elm. Sweet dreams, little brother!
