Hoping East Mescalero makes the list

When I read the headlines in last Friday’s paper — “City paves way for street survey” — my first thought was, “I certainly hope East Mescalero is at the top of the list for complete repaving.” We have been suffering with potholes for years on Mescalero.

While the city workers do their best to patch the asphalt, all we need is a good rain and it’s back to square one. Last summer driving Mescalero was like playing a treacherous video game: trying to avoid the deep potholes (unsuccessfully) and watching for oncoming traffic. When the pavement was completely covered in flood water the drive was horrible. I wonder how many people have had to get the wheels realigned on their cars!

East Mescalero is a main access for the Linda Vista subdivision, the “loop” subdivision, and both Goddard and Del Norte schools. And sometimes even 18-wheelers drive the street, which I think may be unlawful. They certainly can do a lot of damage. City officials — are you listening? Please completely repave East Mescalero from Main Street to at least Orchard. Thank you.
