Roswell police have identified the man found dead Friday night as 52-year-old Todd Porter Evans.

The New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator confirmed the identity of Evans by his fingerprints, said Roswell Police Department spokesman Todd Wildermuth.

A man and a teenager are charged with second-degree murder in connection with what police are describing as a fatal beating.

According to news announcements, Colby Thornton, 41, and Dublas Chicas, 17, were found at the scene when Roswell Police Department officers were called to the area under the bridge near South Main and Hendricks streets shortly before midnight. Evans, described as homeless, also was found under the bridge, bloodied and unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Thornton and Chicas were detained by police as the investigation began and were arrested about 12 hours later.

Wildermuth indicated that the investigation into the homicide is continuing and investigators are looking into the possibility of an additional person having been present during the crime. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the Roswell Police Department at (575) 624-6770 or Chaves County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-594- TIPS(8477).
