Jean W. Crook, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 6, 2018. She was born, Erma Jean Doty, on November 9, 1930, in Fulton, Kansas, to William Bradford Doty and Erma Marie Marshall, whom both preceded her in death.

During her life, she had worked in a café, drove a mail route, and as an aide in a nursing home. For the majority of her life, Jean had been a mother and homemaker. She had various interests and hobbies, including crocheting, ceramics, collecting dolls, and singing gospel music. Jean enjoyed spending time with family and friends and listening to country music. She was a spiritual lady with a feisty and ornery side some people didn’t see. Jean was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had many friends at Trinity House of Praise.

Predeceding Jean in death were both parents; brothers: Bob Doty, Roy Doty, Delbert Doty, Larry Moore; both husbands: Clifford Wheeler and Earl Crook; son, Jeffrey Wheeler; son-in-law, Earl Tressider and Timothy Day; daughters-in-law, Kathleen Portio Wheeler and Rose Padilla Wheeler; and great-granddaughter, Shelby Chavez.

Jean is survived by her brother, Orval and wife, Shirley Doty; sister, Betty Nichols; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Doty; Children: Cleta Tressider; William and wife, Gloria Wheeler, Stanley and wife, Ronda Wheeler, Steven Wheeler and fiancée, Ella Chavez, Deirdre Billingsley, Robert and wife, Mary Crook, Carla Cobb; grandchildren: James Tressider, Teddie Tressider Sterle, Charles and wife, Toni Tressider, Dewey and wife, Monica Keller, Troy and wife, Cheryl Keller, Tino Gallegos, Ernie and wife, Shonee Gallegos, Sylvia Wheeler, Stephanie and husband, Leonard Bowden, Jennifer and husband Jimmy Gallegos, Wendell and wife Nabila Billingsley, Robert and wife, DJ Crook, Jimmy Crook, Erica Crook, Mashelle Arellano and fiancé, Stonewall Montgomery; great-grandchildren: Ethan Sterle, Dallice, Brandon, Dylan and Shayla Tressider, Corey and wife, Lauren, Jordan, Isaiah, Shalom, Jira and Shiloh Keller, Rita and AJ Keller, Kade, Cheyenne and Daniel Gallegos, Gabriel, Angel and J-Lynn Gallegos, DJ Young, Jeremiah Wheeler, Rav’n, Brandon and Asia Ramirez, Adam and Jonah Bowden, Juan and Leo Chavez, Zhane Vega, Xavier and Mya Zamora, Kaydyn Wheeler, Molly Billingsley, Harley and Thatcher Crook, Bastian and Karisma Beckom, Dayren Montgomery; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the numerous doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff who took care of her over the years, with special thanks to those who helped take care of her in her final days.

There will be a Viewing at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Thursday, May 10, 2018, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
