Medical center hosts children’s art gallery

Calli Cheadle admires her self-portrait with a family member at the third year of the Arts Connect gallery opening on Tuesday evening at the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Cheadle, 8, is a student at East Grand Plains Elementary School. “I like how we can paint, make cultures, and draw ourselves and other stuff like that,” Cheadle said. “And it’s really fun!” Arts Connect Principal Abie Smith had tables where the student artists could sign in and were given a name tag. Two floors and another hallway were filled with kingergarten through 5th-grade students’ art with refreshments provided for families, teachers, and hospital staff. (Alison Penn Photo)
