Recent graduates of the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy in Santa Fe included seven new Roswell Police Department officers.

The academy’s latest graduates, from agencies throughout the state, are now fully commissioned New Mexico law enforcement officers. They completed 16 weeks of training during which each completed about 650 hours of police coursework on topics such as state and federal case law, crisis resolution, ethics, community policing and other areas of study.

Graduation ceremonies were held May 16.

Each cadet was also tested physically, running some 200 miles and completing thousands of push-ups, sit-ups and other exercises.
