A misdemeanor charge against Dr. Steven Black, who in late October was arrested by Roswell police for allegedly assaulting his wife, was dismissed in Chaves County Magistrate Court on Wednesday.

All parties were present at the Wednesday hearing when the battery against a household member charge was dismissed with prejudice. With prejudice means that the plaintiff is barred from filing another case on the same claim.

In late November, a Roswell judge had dismissed a fourth-degree felony charge of false imprisonment against the local psychiatrist. Black, who was 55 at the time of his arrest, is CEO and owner of Pangea Medical, a psychiatric and counseling clinic in Roswell.

Both the felony and misdemeanor charges stemmed from an Oct. 27 incident between Black and his wife, Helen.
