American Legion Post 28 will hold its Flag Day Retirement Ceremony at 10 a.m. On June 16 at the post, 162 N. Montana Ave. The public is invited to attend.

The ceremony will begin with prayer from the post chaplain followed by the playing of “Taps” to remember our fallen heroes.

The commander will do a welcome and give general information on the ceremony.

Then a flag for the ceremony will have the blue field of stars cut out by the commander and the sergeant at arms. They will hand it to a member of the Boy Scouts.

Then each strip will be cut out while reciting the names of each of the 13 colonies. Each stripe will then be placed in the retirement pitas. After the last stripe, the blue field of stars will be placed in the retirement pit. Then members of the public are invited to retire a flag in the pit. The chaplain will close the ceremony with a prayer.
