RPD officers graduate from state academy

Three new Roswell Police Department officers graduated earlier this month from state academy training, earning their formal law enforcement certifications. Pictured, from left, are new officers Gabriel Ponce, Cassandra Juarez and Kenneth Larson, who completed coursework at the Southeastern New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy in Hobbs. Pictured, far right, is RPD Support Services Sgt. Ron Smith. The new officers’ academy training included topics such as state and federal case law, crisis resolution, ethics, community policing and many others. Each cadet also was tested physically with activities such as running, push-ups, sit-ups and other exercises. (Submitted Photo)
