As part of its Community Investment Project that began two weeks ago, the Roswell Police Department and local business sponsors will be hosting a free public lunch today, June 9, at Alice Reischman Smith Park in south Roswell.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The park is located on G Street between East Wells and East Eyman streets at the Roswell International Air Center area known as the “Base.” Those attending will be able to visit with officers, who hope to have the RPD Mobile Command Center available for the public to step into and learn about. The Parks and Recreation Department will be providing carnival games, kick ball or other kids activities, and there will be an “Animals Show & Tell” from the Spring River Zoo.

Pizza and drinks will be provided to the public from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The pizza will be provided by Domino’s and the drinks by Pioneer Bank and Wal-Mart.

RPD and the City of Roswell wished to thank these business sponsors for their contributions to the event.

Roswell-based Brian Bailey, the local Domino’s franchise owner who also runs other Domino’s stores, was selected as the 2017 Restaurateur of the Year by the New Mexico Restaurant Association, recognized for growth and the franchise’s charitable contributions.

“Giving away pizzas is one of our favorite things to do and we are very happy to be a sponsor of the Roswell Community Investment Project to support our police and neighborhoods,” said Lawrence Joy, the marketing director for Bailey’s Domino’s group that includes Roswell.

Julianna Halvorson, vice president of marketing for Pioneer Bank, said, “Pioneer Bank is proud of our relationship with the City of Roswell and local organizations and events that make Roswell the intimate, supportive community we are proud to be a part of.”

This is the first of three free public lunch events RPD and its business sponsors will host throughout the Community Investment Project taking place this spring and summer. The next two are tentatively scheduled for July 14 (with sponsorship from Xcel Energy) at Poe Corn Park and Aug. 4 at Carpenter Park.
