Madilyn Tucker and her mom, Kari Tucker, give a little love to Zia during the Stepping Out for Children event held at the Chaves County Courthouse. Zia is a specially trained CASA, or Courthouse Appointed Special Advocate, dog. The event was organized by Los Pasitos Early Intervention Program, which assists local families with children, birth to age 3, who have been diagnosed with developmental delays by providing them with family counseling and occupational, speech and physical therapy. Many different family-oriented organizations and businesses were at the event to provide entertainment to youth and information to adults. The event also had activities that raised money for Los Pasitos, which is funded by the state and by donations.
