It won’t be long now until Roswell residents and visitors can order up some ice cream with their donuts.

A new combined Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin Robbins restaurant is slated to open on North Main Street in late 2018 and will be owned by NMR LLC, according to Justin Drake, a spokesperson for Dunkin’ Brands Group Inc., based in Canton, Massachusetts.

Construction began recently at the corner of North Main and West Eighth Streets, between the UFO McDonald’s restaurant and the Sonic Drive-In. The new restaurant is estimated to cost about $1.2 million, according to building permits and planning documents on file with the City of Roswell.

The Dunkin’ Donuts-Baskin Robbins is designed to have a drive-through while seating about 46 people inside the restaurant. Drake said it would offer a variety of beverages as well as sandwiches, milkshakes, sundaes and other food items.

According to building permits and other documents filed with the city, NMR LLC of Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, began discussions with city officials in August about building the restaurant and obtained a permit in December.

Dunkin Brands, a publicly traded company with about 20,600 retail distribution points in 60 countries, operates primarily through franchises. Drake said New Mexico has 12 Dunkin’ Donuts locations and 23 Baskin Robbins stores.

A May 2015 news release indicated that NMR LLC had entered an agreement to open nine new restaurants in New Mexico, five being Dunkin’ Donuts outlets and four being the multi-branded Dunkin’ Donuts-Baskin Robbins stores.

The partners in the corporation have more than 30 years of experience with Dunkin’ Brands, including in the Chicago area, and own gas and convenience stores as well, the news release indicated.
