Historical Society gives out scholarships

During the month of May, the Historical Society for Southeast New Mexico was honored to give out five scholarships to graduating high school seniors through the Linda Hays Trust. These scholarships were entrusted to HSSENM through the Linda Hays Trust thanks to Troy Hays, and scholarships will be available for the next four years. Pictured, left to right, are: Amy McVay Davis, HSSENM executive director; HSSENM President John LeMay; John Anaya, Goddard High School, History/Humanities Scholarship; Eden Wiggins, Goddard High School, Art Scholarship; Raquel Trevizo, Dexter High School, Character Scholarship; Laura Laidley, Roswell High School (Valedictorian), STEM Scholarship; and Hays. Not pictured: Tamia Higgins, Fort Sumner High School, Character Scholarship. In addition to presenting the scholarships in person to the recipients in Roswell, Davis and LeMay also presented the scholarships in person to the recipients in Dexter and Fort Sumner.
