The third Bookish Affair is set to take place this coming Friday and Saturday, starting at 2 p.m. in Mabee Lecture Hall on the New Mexico Military Institute campus.

The free screening of “The Shawshank Redemption” along with a discussion of its adaptation is open to the public. Fans of the movie or book are encouraged to join with others in exploring how one of Stephen King’s most literary stories came to the big screen.

Following that will be a paid event at 6 p.m. at the gallery. Then, Saturday morning there will be a paid event at the new art space, Bone Springs, catered by Pecos Flavors Winery.

Saturday afternoon the event concludes with a discussion back at Mabee with leaders of the reading community, and a presentation from three writers from the Roswell area — Kyle Chaney, Barbara Morales and Barbara Corn Patterson.

All events at the NMMI campus are free and open to the public.

Directions and information about tickets to the paid events is available on-line at choosingebenezer.com and by calling 575-624-1376 (ask for Eva).
