Roswell police officers are reaching out to the community this summer through a Community Investment Project (CIP). The CIP offers citizens a chance to get to know some of the officers while the officers hear concerns, questions and other input in three specific areas of the city.

The RPD’s Command Center will remain at Alice Reischman-Smith Park (on G Street between East Wells and East Eyman streets) through June 29. Officers will again be at the Command Center to visit with citizens and show them the vehicle from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. before heading out into that neighborhood to talk with residents.

The Command Center will move to two other locations, again being available to visit from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day it can be there, in July and August. Officers will also be going through the neighborhoods of these areas during the specified days to talk to residents about any issues and any questions they have.

The Command Center will be stationed at Poe Corn Park (East Second Street just east of Garden Avenue) from July 2-27. It will be stationed at Carpenter Park (Buena Vista Street just east of Southeast Main Street) from July 30-Aug. 31.

Each of the areas where the Command Center will be parked throughout this project is a site where the Roswell Independent School District serves its free summer lunches for school-age children from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition, the Roswell Police Department and local business sponsors will host a free public lunch at the Command Center site one Saturday each month. The upcoming lunches are tentatively set for July 14 and Aug. 4. They will be available from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
