A well-known local restauranteur says that a food-truck generator used for her business was stolen from her home.

Kerry Moore, owner of Chef Toddzilla Gourmet Burgers and Mobile Cuisine, said that she reported the theft to police Wednesday and that she thinks the Generac 17500 generator, valued at about $3,000, was taken about 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. from the back of a pickup parked at her residence.

“It wasn’t just a ‘walk up and take it’ sort of thing. It weighs 400 pounds, so you had to be prepared,” she said, adding that the generator was locked and chained in the pickup.

She said that the restaurant on Twin Diamond Road will remain open and is not impacted by the incident, but the mobile truck won’t be used until the generator, the only one owned by the business, is recovered or replaced.

“Fortunately we didn’t have the trailer booked (for the UFO Festival),” she said, “so we will be able to operate as normal. It is just that if something comes up, we cannot use the food truck.”
