Two young men were shot early Wednesday and arrived at a local hospital on their own with non-critical injuries.

The Roswell Police Department is investigating the incident that occurred on West Byrne Street and that was reported about 5:30 a.m. That location is within the Roswell International Air Center district. A possible suspect has been identified, said police spokesman Todd Wildermuth.

Wildermuth said that the men, 17 and 18, made their own way to the hospital.

“The injuries weren’t serious enough to incapacitate them,” he said. “The hospital notified the PD (police department) about shooting victims showing up at the hospital about the same time that people had called in about hearing some shots fired in the area on Byrne.”

Wildermuth said that specifics of the incident, including whether it occurred outdoors or inside a building or vehicle, were unavailable Wednesday.

“I don’t have any of those details now,” said Wildermuth. “We are still out investigating.”
