Run with the aliens on Saturday

The organizer made sure that the Alien Chase — especially the 10K-run — follows a route that is mostly in the shade. This year racers do not have to wait for a gun shot, they are all chipped to get the accurate time. (Archive Photo)

The Roswell Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the 24th annual Alien Chase on July 7 and there is still time to sign up.

The Alien Chase features a 10K run, 10K walk, 5K run and a 5K walk. Participants in each race compete in nine age divisions for men and women. The 10K races will start before the 5K races at the Roswell Adult and Recreation Center at 807 N. Missouri Ave.

The race participants can sign up online at athlinks.com or fill out the form at the Roswell Adult and Recreation Center.

A special prize will be given to the runner with the best alien costume. Overall men’s and women’s winners in each race will receive awards. First- through third-place finishers in each age group will receive medals.

Registration for the 10K on race day will be from 6 to 6:45 a.m. and for the 5K from 6 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. at the Adult and Recreation Center. (Race-day morning fee is $50.)
