The king returns

Today is the last day to see the youth production of Way Way Off-Broadway Theatre Company’s musical “The Lion King Jr.” Based on the Broadway production directed by Julie Taymor and the 1994 Disney film, “The Lion King Jr.” shares the epic adventures of a curious cub named Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as king. “These kids have worked so hard and people will be amazed at how talented they are when they see the show. I’m extremely proud of them,” Summer Souza said. Souza is the president of WWOB and its artistic director. The showing of the production is today at 2 p.m. at Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell Performing Art Center, 52 University Blvd. Tickets are $5. For more information, visit waywayoffbroadway.com or call 575-317-0157. Pictured are, from left, Emily Souza as Rafiki; kneeling in the background is Jason Graff as adult Simba.
