The Chaves County Board of Commissioners is set to decide at its Thursday meeting whether to enter an agreement with a new dental care firm to provide services to the uninsured and poor.

The regular monthly meeting of the county’s governing board has been scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday at the Chaves County Administrative Center, 1 St. Mary’s Place.

According to agenda items released by the county, elected officials learned in June that La Casa Health Services was no longer providing dental services to indigent residents. The county will consider whether to enter an agreement for such services with Carabelli Dental, which recently opened in Roswell.

Many other items are scheduled for the meeting, including public hearings on two zoning cases and two liquor license matters and contracts concerning the county’s DWI and juvenile justice programs and its livestock predator control program operated in conjunction with the Wildlife Services unit of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.

The agenda is available on the Chaves County website, co.chaves.nm.us.
