Miandra “Momma Mia” Jennings journeyed on the evening of the July 10th at her residence in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Mia was born July 16, 1972 in Krugersdorp, South Africa to Catherina and Johannes Van Aswegen where her beloved aunt Engela van den Berg was present at her birth. She is a mother, a daughter, a sister, and a friend to so many. Her daughter, Jesse, and two sons, Jasper, and Zach, will miss her guidance but will carry on her light. She is survived by her parents, her sisters, Marentia De Villers and Maryna Verwey, a niece, Simone De Villers, and two nephews, Johan and Berno Verwey. She is also survived by Kim Chatfield, Tom Jennings, Marilyn Manatt, Heidi Huckabee, Zane Ellis, Lucy N. Rose, and many others.
Her ferocious passion for exploration brought her to the States. She earned a Masters in Education and enriched the lives of many students through her 18 years of teaching in New Mexico. She enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends and spending fun times on the Rio Grande River. With her bright light, open arms, and passion for life, she taught many how to live life to the fullest and do so comfortably in their own skin, as she always did.
There will be a memorial service at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Roswell, NM at 10AM on Friday, July 20, 2018, followed by a Celebration of Life.
