New Mexico State Police say a 33-year-old driver and his 41-year-old passenger died Monday when their truck collided head-on with another pickup truck on State Road 128 between Loving and Jal.

The initial investigation indicated a 2008 Dodge truck driven by Patricio Montano Ponce was traveling west on SR 128.

For unknown reasons, the 2008 Dodge crossed the center line into the opposing, eastbound traffic of SR 128, according to the crash report.

The Dodge crashed into a 2010 Ford F-250 that was traveling east.

Ponce sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger of the Dodge, Rafael Arturo Licon, 41, of Fort Worth, Texas, also sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor. The driver of the Ford F-250 was not identified and no additional information was available.
