Fourth-grade teachers, Mrs. Bechtel and Mrs. Duncan, at Del Norte Elementary, used the new K-5 summer school incentive to teach students how to conduct research.

Students chose a famous American to research. First, they read and took notes. After that, they were taught how to take facts and turn them into paragraphs.

Using this writing process, fourth graders were able to write research papers. As part of the wax museum project, they created a background and dressed as their famous American.

Principal Coggins, parents, family members and other students asked these famous Americans questions about their “lives.”

“It was a great end-project for the 25 days of summer school,” said Natalie Duncan, fourth-grade teacher for Del Norte Elementary.
