Mary Katherine Schneider was born January 31, 1952, in Durant, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Milton Currin and Gladys (McIntyre) Currin. As a young child, she moved with her parents and eight siblings to Roswell, where she graduated as an honor student from Goddard High School with the Class of 1970.

She was united in marriage to Jon Robert Schneider on September 18, 1971, in Roswell. They celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary this past September. After their marriage, they resided in Las Cruces, NM, and then Roswell until August 1980, when they moved to Oregon, settling in the Hillsboro community, where they have resided since.

In addition to being the consummate wife and homemaker, Kathy worked as vice president of advertising for Soloflex, Inc., at Hawthorne Farms in Hillsboro for 14 years, contributing greatly to the success of the company until she retired in 1994.

Kathy was an accomplished artist, painting with oils, acrylics, and watercolors, portraying people, places, still life, abstracts and animals. She enjoyed reading books by the bagful from local libraries, listening to music, watching TV and movies, sewing, landscaping, caring for her flowers, cooking for friends and family, interior design, home construction and renovation, and especially, her status as a fun-loving grandmother. Trips to the Oregon coast were a special treat that she and her family indulged in as frequently as possible.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Gladys Currin; her two brothers, Morris and Larry Currin, and her two sisters, Jennie Cope and Becky Jackson.
