Shirley M. Taylor departed this world to be home with Jesus, Aug 07, 2016. She came in to this world March 1929, on her father James E. Taylor’s WWI service homestead in Phoenix, AZ.

She is survived by many friends and former students.

Her mother Lillian made sure that Shirley got a college education, sending her to Louisiana State University and other colleges to study music and education. Later in life she went on to get a Master’s degree in Christian education. Shirley and her mother traveled to many places to teach in high schools including Roswell High and schools in Missouri, Illinois, New York, Texas and Alaska, where she was adopted by the Sichan Indian Crow Clan.

Shirley was the founder and 1st president of Pecos Valley Christian College; that ultimately became FLETC, in Artesia.

She had many hobbies: sewing with a vast collection of fabrics, painting & she loved cats.

She was a member of the Roswell Fine Arts League and Gallery.

Shirley was warm, kind, open-hearted, spiritual and loving. She was willing to drop any moment and pray for anyone or anything from children to cats.

We will be remembering her life on August 9th, 2018 at 10am at South Park Cemetery for graveside services; potluck after.
