Roswell City Manager Joe Neeb provided an update on what is happening in Roswell and plans for the future during a recent meeting of the Roswell Sertoma Club. Of particular interest those in attendance, according to Sertoma Club members, were discussions concerning the newly refurbished convention center and recreation center.

The announcement of the hiring of 20 new police officers and a forecast for street and water line maintenance were welcomed enthusiastically by members of the club.

The Roswell Sertoma Club is a non-profit, civic-service organization whose motto is “SERvice TO MAnkind.” The club’s primary sponsorship is assisting in the purchase of hearing aids and speech therapy for needy persons. The club also provides 25 $500 college scholarships each semester, supports various youth activities, and is the major sponsor of the annual Fourth of July fireworks show.

Anyone wishing to join the club is welcome to attend one of its meetings at noon at the Elks Lodge every Friday. One can obtain forms to apply for assistance at the Club’s web address: www.roswellsertoma.org.
