Elene was the eldest of three children born to Effie and Albert Mulkey. The family moved off the farm into Corona in the 1940’s. She attended the Corona Schools. Elene took piano lessons and attended the Corona Baptist Church, where she saw a need for something more in her life and accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. After graduating high school, she went to Albuquerque, where she began working as a cosmetologist. Elene married Harvey Robertson and together they had two children. During the Cuban Missile crisis, she felt the need to return back to Corona. She eventually became a bookkeeper and later married Kenneth Means and they had a son together. Elena moved to Roswell, NM, in the mid-sixties and was a bookkeeper for Durham Lincoln Mercury. She also worked for the Human Services Welfare Department before she went to college, where she pursued and received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Art. After graduating ENMU, Elene moved to Texas, where she lived over twenty years. Elene loved to play the piano and sing, she always sang in the choir at church. She also took art classes in college and found that she enjoyed painting and drawing, which she did quite well.

Those left to cherish Elene’s memory are her children, Alan Robertson and Adis Robertson; grandson, Joshua Means; two brothers, Frank Mulkey and wife Mary, and their children: Diane Rust, Darryl Mulkey; and Danny Mulkey, Lee Mulkey and wife Patsy and their children: Scott Mulkey, Steve Mulkey, and Tom Mulkey; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews that she really enjoyed.
