Motorcycle enthusiasts are invited to an event to benefit Roswell’s oldest church and help out a local couple who were recently injured in an accident.

The Roswell Third Annual Bike Blessing by the King of Kings will take place Sunday and include a group ride, small mass, blessing of the bikes, auction and live music.

Half of the proceeds from an auction planned as part of the event will go toward St. John’s Catholic Church and the other half will go to Michael and Liz Lucero, a couple from Melrose who were recently injured by a drunk driver while they rode their motorcycles, event organizer Jorge Armendariz said.

He said the Luceros will need financial assistance to cover medical expenses and help them out until they are well enough to return to work.

The festivities will begin at 1:15 p.m. with a meet-n-greet at Sam’s Club on North Main Street. At 11:45 a.m. participants will then ride to St. John’s at 506 S. Lincoln St. for a short mass. The pastor or deacon at the church will then bless the bikes before riders head off to EPIQ at 3905 SE Main Street for a gathering
